A diptych project I created for Design class during my Spring semester at RISD (Freshman year, 2015). The two posters talk about my love/hate relationship with my memories of Japan, especially of the experiences when I was a child. I loved my experiences back then because of the experiences and sights I got to see thanks to living in a foreign country. However, I hated some experiences, since as a foreigner I faced racism and segregation, having to cope with it as a child (especially because of my skin tone). Thus one poster reads 'It's a wonderful world', while the other reads a variety of insults. The text is in Japanese since this is a more personal piece, and thus it is meant to create a disconnect from myself to others. The color choice was done to accent the love and hate of my experiences and memories. Made using Adobe Illustrator.
